The project, called Scalo House, involves the new construction of two buildings for residential use and the redevelopment of an existing building for subsidized university residence use near the former Scalo Farini. The two residential towers, 8 and 13 stories above ground, are located at 40 Valtellina Street. Two floors of basements dedicated to garages, cellars and technical rooms are planned.
In contrast, the studentate faces Via Lepontina and consists of seven floors above ground. In fact, the existing volume is maintained and raised by one floor. Study rooms and indoor and outdoor recreation areas, relaxation area, kitchen area, laundry room, storage rooms, utility rooms, and common toilets are provided. The restoration of the building allows the façade on Lepontina Street to be preserved compositionally and materially.
The intervention, in its entirety, fits adequately into the context in terms of architectural quality and the careful design of the exterior arrangements.
